The Andrich Review of the Curriculum Framework

This is a VERY important document that ALL associations should read and discuss....please read and discuss.

The Andrich Review of the Curriculum Framework for curriculum, assessment and reporting purposes in Western Australian schools, with particular reference to years Kindergarten to Year 10 was released late last year. It focuses on curriculum, assessment and reporting policies and procedures in Western Australian schools. It was established because of changes to Commonwealth and State education policies, especially those made since the introduction of the Curriculum Framework in 1998. • 2010 as the International Year for the - message from the FIPLV

    Dear Colleagues

We are delighted to inform you, if you were not already aware, that the United Nations has identified 2010 as the International Year for the Rapprochement of Cultures.

Following on from 2008, the International Year of Languages, this is another golden opportunity to take advantage of the year and the accompanying activities of UNESCO.

In its inclusion of the relevant document 35 C/55 on its website, UNESCO is seeking suggestions under four specific themes, the first of which is:

    (i) promoting reciprocal knowledge of cultural, ethnic, linguistic and religious diversity

We exhort you to discuss this among your members, consider local activities and the possibility of tendering suggestions to UNESCO.

    Kind regards

Denis Denis Cunningham, FACE Secretary General Fédération Internationale des Professeurs de Langues Vivantes (FIPLV) and Linguapax Advisory Board Member PO Box 216 Belgrave 3160 Australia
