About Le Stage à la Plage
Since 1995, the Teacher of French Association has been organising Le Stage à la Plage — the premier annual professional development event for French teachers in Western Australia.
The conference offers:

Past Conferences
In 2025, we celebrated 30 years of TOFA WA! A morning Conference was held at Tranby Hall in the Perth CBD with 50 participants. Associate Professor Chloé Diskin-Holdaway was our guest speaker and she presented a Keynote titled ‘Rethinking Linguistic Competence’. Following an inspiring and informative morning, a celebratory lunch was held on a Swan River Cruise with 60 participants, including past presidents of TOFA.
In 2024, the Stage à la plage was integrated into the bi-annual National FATFA conference and held in Perth on November 22-23.

In 2022, we had the pleasure to welcome all the way from Canada, international recording artist and award-winning “teacher-rockstar” Steven “ÉTIENNE” Langlois.
The event was held on Friday 12 August 2022, at QT, 133 Murray Street, Perth 6000 WA.
The 2021 Conference
Our Keynote Speaker was Julian Chen, expert in Language Learning Methodologies and Lecturer at Curtin University. He shared his knowledge on successful Lesson Design and Task-based Language Teaching.
The 2019 Conference
In 2019, we welcomed Dr. GianFranco Conti to the spectacular Fremantle Sailing Club where he delighted WA’s French Teachers with some great presentations and workshops. Here are some highlights of the day captured by our committee members.
